D C TRAINING are pleased to announce the opening of their new Training Centre in Napoleon Business Park, Ascot Drive, Derby.

The centre will be offering Counter Balance and Reach Truck Training as well as First Aid At Work, Aluminum Tower Scaffolding Training and Abrasive Wheel Training.
In addition, delegates will have opportunity to train as Fork Lift Truck instructors.

These course will be held on a regular basis at the new centre.

How can we help?

Q. Do operators have to have training?
A. Yes. It is a legal requirement that all operators have recognised training for the equipment being used.

Q. Do operators need to be retested?
A. Under Helath & Safety guidlines operators of forklift trucks have to be retested at regular intervals, normally every 3-5 years.

Q. Do managers or supervisors have to be trained?
A. Yes.  PUWER Regulations 1998 state that " all persons who supervise or manage the use of work equipment have received adequate training for the purpose of Health & Safety".

Q. Do trucks need to be inspected daily?
A. Yes.  A qualified forklift operator must inspect forklifts at the start of every shift.

Q. Will one certificate cover an operator for all trucks?
A. No.  Certification will only cover an operator for the piece of equipment that they have had training for. 

Q. Will the certification cover our company for Health & Safety and Insurance purposes.
A. Yes.  DC Training is a fully accredited company with ITSSAR (Independent Training Standards Scheme and Register).  All training courses are to the National Standards.

Q. Is there a legal age requirement for forklift operators?
A. Yes.  Operators must be over the minimum school leaving age of 16, unless operating in dockyards where the age requirement is 18 or over.

Q. Can training be completed on our premises?
A. Yes.  On-site training is encouraged as it gives operators practice in their own working environment.  We can arrange on-site training and advise you on requirements in respect of space and other facilities.

Q. Do operators need a road vehicle driving licence?
A. No.  A driving license for a road vehicle is not needed unless the trucks are being driven on the road.

Q. How many candidates can attend a course?
A. This depends on the training course. In general it is no more than 3. Please contact DC Training for full details.
